In pre-Covid times, the clean-up would entail outside maintenance, such as yard work and tidying up around boats. It would also entail giving the club house a good scrub.
This year, in order to abide Covid protocols, the interior cleaning will have to be handled differently.
Bob has posted a list on the inside bulletin board of the inside cleaning activities which need to be accomplished, and he asks that if you are able to do any of the tasks that you do so at times other than on the clean-up day. Please indicate which actions you've completed on the list and then record your hours in the volunteer book.
Regarding outside cleaning activities, we ask that you abide by Covid protocols and ensure that you log in to the Covid record book when you arrive. Additionally, record your hours in the volunteer book.
In addition to the normal maintenance of the outside areas, there will be a work party to refurbish the kayak/canoe racks which will be coordinated by Jim Cuttle. In order to perform the refurb without too much inconvenience to users of the racks, one rack will be worked on Saturday, March 20th, and the other on March 27th.
In order to facilitate the refurb, users of the south rack who have their equipment locked to the rack will be asked to remove and either temporarily store their equipment on an empty spot on the north rack (of which there are only 2 open spots), find another location on the grounds, or take their equipment home. Similarly, we will ask users of the north rack to do the same the following Saturday.
We are specifically asking users of these racks for assistance in the refurbishment. The process is to stain the uprights, reinforce where necessary, extend any arms [where desired by users for more surface area to hold their kayak or canoe] and to staple/glue outdoor carpet on the arms. Thus, we will need someone with carpentry skills, a skill saw, screw drivers, drills and hopefully a tape measure!
Jim may, in advance, send out a specific note to the registered users of the racks with more information.
It must be noted that we have two new members each of whom are bringing 2 kayaks. Thus you can see that the activities at the club are somewhat morphing in another forms of watersports. The current racks hold 16 pieces, and with the addition of these 4, the racks will be filled.
Hope to see you on the 20th!
