Join us at the clubhouse on Saturday, April 14th between 8AM and 3PM.
As usual, we need volunteers to clean the clubhouse, to tidy the grounds and to put the boat and dock in the lake. Remember to bring rakes, gloves, gardening tools, leaf blowers and wheel barrels for the yard work. The club will provide yard waste bags and indoor cleaning products. For those willing to help with the boat and dock, you should consider bringing hip waders or a wet suit. We need about four people for this task. Your energetic participation for both inside and outside tasks is greatly appreciated!
A hot lunch will be served to all volunteers. During this time, we can chin-wag about our winter activities.
This clean-up activity is a great way to reconnect with friends and to get in some volunteer hours.
On another note, Rear Commodore and Port Captain Garry Ford is looking for volunteers to help out with ongoing clubhouse and grounds maintenance activities during the sailing season. Time you spend doing this necessary work goes towards your mandatory volunteer hours so it's an easy way to get your time in for the year. Areas that require volunteers include:
- Lawn mowing. This task starts in May and requires a commitment of about 3 hours a week. It can be completed by one person taking on the responsibility or a number of individuals over the spring, summer and fall.
- Clubhouse cleaning. This is an ongoing task that starts with the spring cleanup in April and ends some time in October when we close things down for the winter. Again this task can be completed by one or two members or on specific dates that you may have available.
- On-going maintenance activities and facility improvements. These are generally carried out by Garry and Jurgen. But if the task is too big, additional members may be called on. Knowing who would be willing would make it much easier.
